nothing in nature is the same…
Picked
Everything is wildcrafted and picked on my own adventures. But, any time I purchase a bouquet to brighten up my space I will always press the flowers before throwing them out!
Pressed
Everything is traditionally pressed using homemade presses. The flowers, leaves and stems are pressed between two pieces of wood over the course of 3 weeks. I use blotting paper and separate the layers with cardboard. This method yields a vintage color palette. There is no artificial intervention that might alter the color that nature intended.
Preserved
All of my pieces are preservations of nature in some fashion. Whether it’s a pressed flower frame, jewelry dish, body oil, or herbal sachet, all of my creations are made from natural ingredients.
My story
My belief in fairies as a little girl led me to spend many of my childhood days playing outside, picking flowers and exploring the woods. Lucky to have grown up during a time when screens were minimal, I became connected and inspired by nature and all it has to offer us. Later in life, my love for the outdoors led me to attend college in Ithaca, NY where the waterfalls, hikes and farmers markets were plentiful. I spent time abroad in New Zealand taking roadtrips around the country, chasing after the next beautiful spot. During covid lockdown, my friend and I decided to embark on a 6-week camping roadtrip across the US visiting 13 National Parks along the way. Rediscovering peace, mindfulness, connection and beauty during such a stressful time allowed me to go inwards and really think about what makes me happy. These outdoor adventures and time spent working with an herbalist on Block Island allowed me to create a space where I can share my love and appreciation for nature with you…
Here at c r a f t w i l d l y , I’ve combined my passion for the outdoors with my love for crafting. All of my pieces are wildcrafted and unique, as the things I find foraging are never the same. Inspired by a place that has prioritized conserving nearly half the island for nature, Block Island was a perfect place to create:
